Nestled in the town of Napanoch, NY stands the grand building now know as The Shanley Hotel. The original hotel was built in 1845 by Mr. Thomas Rich. During the late 1800's and early 1900's The Shanley Hotel was a popular summer vacation stop amongst the Shawanugunk Mountains. The original structure burnt down to the ground in 1895. Adolph Wagner the hotel's owner at the time quickly rebuilt and had the doors open just eight months later. In October 1906 the hotel saw yet another owner, a successful Irish businessman named James Shanley. In an effort to attract even more vacationers a bowling ally, billiard room, and barber shop was added in 1908. Some of the famouse people that stayed were Thomas Edison, Eleanore Roosevelt and her husband Franklin. Sadly what the Shanley's had in fortune didn't equate to happiness. Mrs. Beatrice Shanley's gave birth to three children all of which died with in nine months. Her sister also passed away giving birth to her third child leaving her daughter's in Beatrice's hands. Tragedy also followed the barber when his daughter fell into the well and drowned. Other deaths and rumors of murder are part of the tale at this hotel along with brothels and speakeasys. In 1944 Mrs. Shanley sold the hotel and moved back to the city. The current owners, Cynthia and Sal Nicosia are patiently restoring the hotel back to it's former glory piece by piece. Along the way they hear noises when no one else is suppose to be there, an unexplained gust of wind, or shadow out of the corner of their eye.
